Plywood is a material manufactured from thin layers of wood veneer that are glued together with adjacent layers having their wood grain rotated up to 90 degrees to one another. This reduces the expansion and shrinkage, providing improved dimensional stability and improves the strength of the finished piece. Also, this alternation of the grain reduces the tendency of wood to split when nailed in at the edges. Plywood is used for a wide range of structural, interior and exterior applications – from formwork through to internal paneling.
